Kolumbus is owned by Rogaland County and is a mobility provider. This signifies that they are responsible for bus and speedboat traffic in Rogaland. In addition, they work to ensure that trains, bicycles, walking and car sharing connect seamlessly with buses and boats so that people can get from A to Z without using their cars. The keywords are correspondence as well as individually adapted and up-to-date information. Kolumbus and the Norwegian Railway Directorate have an agreement on routes, fares and ticket cooperation in Rogaland. The agreement ensures seamless travel by bus and local train in Rogaland with the same fare and ticket system, as well as corresponding departure times.

In addition to more people leaving their cars at home from time to time, Kolumbus will contribute to a better county by offering a completely fossil-free transport service by 2024. This involves a transition to organic HVO diesel, hybrid operation and all-electric vehicles during the next few years. The actual transport by bus and boat is carried out by operating companies under contract for Kolumbus. Kolumbus disposes of a total of 450 buses, 10 speedboats and 3 ferries.
