The festival's vision is to be one of Europe's leading chamber music festivals for performers and audiences. The consistently high artistic quality is the mainstay of the festival.
Stavanger Chamber Music Festival aims to strengthen the intrinsic value of the art form through continuation, quality enhancement and innovation. Truls Mørk, who established the festival back in the day, wanted to make the festival an oasis for busy musicians, and this is what it has been for almost 30 years!
Here they live together for an entire week in August, forming an extended family where they work, eat - and play - together. Their joy in this inspiring community radiates beyond the concertgoers and the wonderful volunteers.
Participants recognise the festival as one of the world's finest chamber music festivals. This recognition was confirmed in 1996 when the festival became a member of the European Festivals Association, the organisation for Europe's leading festivals.
