The design hotel by Rogaland's largest lake was designed by architect Geir Grung in a modernist style and is elegantly located on the mountainside by Nesflaten.
The hotel has a panoramic view of Lake Suldalsvatnet. The 31 rooms are spread over two buildings.
Original Grung
The main building "Originale Grung" was built in the 1960s and was designed by Geir Grung in connection with the Røldal-Suldal Kraft development, which is considered one of Grung's finest works. This part of the hotel was formerly the "mess hall" for Norsk Hydro's power plant and still has the original 1960s furniture and an elegant gold fireplace intact. The rooms are minimalist, and decorated and designed with the view and nature in focus.
Modern Grung
The new Modern Grung building was designed by Tai Grung and completed in 2015. The rooms here have generous ceiling heights and full-width windows - in keeping with the premise that all rooms should have a view of Lake Suldalsvatnet and the neighbouring mountains. The interior design is therefore also in a minimalist style with clean lines and surfaces. The continuation of the hotel can be experienced as a meeting between two generations of Grung and a journey through time.
Courses and meetings
Energihotellet is a great place to gather. The meeting rooms are organised for companies that want peace and quiet. There are meeting rooms for up to 35 people, and the hotel can organise meeting rooms for more people locally at Nesflaten if required.
Functions
For weddings and larger Christmas parties, you'll have the entire hotel to yourself and feel right at home. There is room for 50 - 70 wedding guests on small tables or long tables. You are welcome to make requests for a menu, and together you can find the best solutions for your party.
For groups
Bring your family or friends! The hotel will customise your stay according to your interests. Activities such as a guided tour to Tørkeloftet, horse-drawn carriage rides, sheepdog demonstrations, boat trips, kayaking, guided architectural tours of the local area, unique dining experiences, or very special concepts such as tunnel singing.
Event and Location
Nesflaten and the architecture in Kilen have been the location for several film productions. The hotel has experience in accommodating and organising various needs in connection with commercials, music videos and feature films. The local community is also willing to step up and provide extras, security guards and whatever else is needed.
