Norway is considered to be one of the most gender equal countries in the world! The Norwegian society is based on equality and equality between women and men. Women and men have the same formal rights and duties, and good care and welfare schemes support the formal rights. Stavanger has been the main centre for the development of Norway as an energy nation for the past 40 years. The majority of energy companies have their headquarters here, such as the Norwegian company Equinor, the Oil Directorate and major international operators and service companies.

Aquaculture, Agriculture and Gastronomy

Rogaland County is considered to be the most important area in Norway for food production. Being the largest producer of livestock and vegetables, here’s a large R&D sector related to food production, with major players and companies present. Stavanger has two MICHELIN stars restaurants.

The Stavanger region has a strong reputation for hosting a variety of international events. The biannual Offshore Northern Seas Conference, Festival & Exhibition attracts more than 92,000 visitors, and the region hosts events such as Altibox Norway Chess, Tour of Norway, and World Cup in skating.

The Stavanger region has the last few years developed to be one of the most up-to-date destinations for organising large events and conferences with great arenas, venues and facilities. The region has high-level facilities where services and technical equipment of top quality are included in most given prices from the hotels, such as free WiFi, AV equipment, projector and flip-over for side-events during your event.

Spectacular attractions

Stavanger is the natural choice to see the most spectacular natural highlights of  Fjord Norway – such as the Preikestolen (the Pulpit Rock) and the photogenic Kjerag boulder. The Preikestolen has been nominated the "world’s most spectacular viewpoint" by CNN & Lonely Planet. The Norwegian fjords are on the UNESCO list of world heritage and offer some of the most majestic and spectacular scenery in the world. Stavanger was rated on the Top 10 list of places to visit in Europe in 2014 (Lonely Planet, 2014).
